This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect when you use our app, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights over that information. By using the A Star Warranty App, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Identity & Contact

Full name, mobile number (used for OTP verification), email address, and GST number for business or dealer registrations.

Product Data

Scanned Serial Numbers

Serial numbers of batteries, chargers, boxes, or pallets scanned by the user via QR code or barcode at the time of registration.

Location Data

GPS Coordinates

Your device's GPS location is captured at the moment of warranty registration to verify the physical site of product installation or sale.

Usage Data

App Interactions

Basic app usage logs such as registration timestamps and session activity, used to improve service reliability and detect anomalies.

Camera: The app requests camera access exclusively for scanning QR codes and barcodes. No photographs or video recordings are captured, stored, or transmitted.

OTP Provider

MSG91

Your mobile number is shared with MSG91 (a communications platform) solely for the purpose of generating and delivering OTP messages for account login and verification. Cloud Infrastructure

Secure Cloud Hosting

All warranty data, user profiles, and product records are stored on secured cloud servers managed by A Star Green Energy / FeathrTech. Data is protected with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Server access is restricted to authorised personnel only.

No Other Sharing

No Advertising or Analytics Networks

We do not share your data with advertising networks, data brokers, social platforms, or any third party for marketing or profiling purposes.

Section 05

Data Retention & Deletion

Retention Period: Warranty registration data (including your name, contact details, product serial numbers, and location at the time of registration) is retained for the full duration of the product warranty period plus an additional 12 months thereafter, to support post-warranty service claims and legal compliance.

Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time. Upon a valid deletion request, your personal information will be removed from our active systems within 30 calendar days. Certain transactional records (e.g. warranty registration confirmations) may be retained in anonymised or aggregated form for regulatory compliance.

App Permissions

The A Star Warranty App requests the following device permissions. Each is used for a single, clearly-defined purpose:

Location (GPS) - Precise Location

Why it's required: Location access is used exclusively at the moment of warranty registration to bind the warranty record to the physical location where the product is being installed or sold. This geographic binding is essential to verify service eligibility, route after-sales technicians accurately, and prevent fraudulent registrations from locations inconsistent with authorised distribution zones. Location data is not tracked continuously - it is captured only at the point of registration and not in the background.

Camera

Why it's required: Camera access is used solely to read QR codes and barcodes printed on A Star product packaging - including batteries, chargers, boxes, and pallet labels - in order to capture the product serial number during warranty registration. The camera does not capture photographs, record video, or store any visual data. No images are saved to your device gallery or uploaded to our servers.

Internet Access

Required to communicate with our servers for warranty submission, OTP delivery via MSG91, and fetching your registration history. All communications are encrypted using TLS.
