A Star Green Energy Limited ("A Star", "we", "our", or "us") operates the A Star Warranty App, developed by FeathrTech. This application is designed for distributors, retailers, and customers of A Star Green Energy products to register and manage product warranties.

This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect when you use our app, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights over that information. By using the A Star Warranty App, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

We collect the following categories of information when you use the app:

Personal Information

Identity & Contact

Full name, mobile number (used for OTP verification), email address, and GST number for business or dealer registrations.

Product Data

Scanned Serial Numbers

Serial numbers of batteries, chargers, boxes, or pallets scanned by the user via QR code or barcode at the time of registration.

Location Data

GPS Coordinates

Your device's GPS location is captured at the moment of warranty registration to verify the physical site of product installation or sale.

Usage Data

App Interactions

Basic app usage logs such as registration timestamps and session activity, used to improve service reliability and detect anomalies.

Camera: The app requests camera access exclusively for scanning QR codes and barcodes. No photographs or video recordings are captured, stored, or transmitted.

Why We Collect It

All data collected is used strictly for the following purposes:

Warranty Validation & Registration: To register your product under the A Star warranty programme and issue a valid warranty record tied to you and your product.
Fraud Prevention: Location data and serial numbers are cross-referenced to detect duplicate registrations, unauthorised claims, and fraudulent activity.
Customer Support: Contact information allows our support team to assist you with warranty claims, service scheduling, and product enquiries.
Product Lifecycle Tracking: Serial number data helps A Star track product performance, batch recalls, and lifespan for quality assurance.
User Authentication: Mobile numbers are used exclusively to send and verify one-time passwords (OTPs) to authenticate your identity securely.
Service Accuracy: GPS location is captured at registration to associate the warranty with a verified physical location, improving after-sales service routing.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers listed below, and only to the extent necessary to operate the app:

OTP Provider

MSG91

Your mobile number is shared with MSG91 (a communications platform) solely for the purpose of generating and delivering OTP messages for account login and verification. Cloud Infrastructure

Secure Cloud Hosting

All warranty data, user profiles, and product records are stored on secured cloud servers managed by A Star Green Energy / FeathrTech. Data is protected with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Server access is restricted to authorised personnel only.

No Other Sharing

No Advertising or Analytics Networks

We do not share your data with advertising networks, data brokers, social platforms, or any third party for marketing or profiling purposes.

Section 05

Data Retention & Deletion

Retention Period: Warranty registration data (including your name, contact details, product serial numbers, and location at the time of registration) is retained for the full duration of the product warranty period plus an additional 12 months thereafter, to support post-warranty service claims and legal compliance.

Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time. Upon a valid deletion request, your personal information will be removed from our active systems within 30 calendar days. Certain transactional records (e.g. warranty registration confirmations) may be retained in anonymised or aggregated form for regulatory compliance.

Section 06

App Permissions

The A Star Warranty App requests the following device permissions. Each is used for a single, clearly-defined purpose:

Location (GPS) - Precise Location

Why it's required: Location access is used exclusively at the moment of warranty registration to bind the warranty record to the physical location where the product is being installed or sold. This geographic binding is essential to verify service eligibility, route after-sales technicians accurately, and prevent fraudulent registrations from locations inconsistent with authorised distribution zones. Location data is not tracked continuously - it is captured only at the point of registration and not in the background.

Camera

Why it's required: Camera access is used solely to read QR codes and barcodes printed on A Star product packaging - including batteries, chargers, boxes, and pallet labels - in order to capture the product serial number during warranty registration. The camera does not capture photographs, record video, or store any visual data. No images are saved to your device gallery or uploaded to our servers.

Internet Access

Required to communicate with our servers for warranty submission, OTP delivery via MSG91, and fetching your registration history. All communications are encrypted using TLS.

Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. The following technical and organisational measures are in place:

Encryption in Transit: All data sent between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security).
Encryption at Rest: Personal and warranty data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest.
Access Controls: Access to the database is restricted to authorised A Star and FeathrTech personnel on a need-to-know basis.
OTP-Based Authentication: Login requires OTP verification via your registered mobile number, ensuring only the rightful account holder can access warranty records.
Regular Security Reviews: Our hosting infrastructure is periodically reviewed for vulnerabilities and kept up to date with security patches.

While we implement industry-standard safeguards, no digital system can guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable law.

Children's Privacy

The A Star Warranty App is intended for use by businesses, dealers, distributors, and adult consumers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has submitted personal information through our app, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such data.

Section 09

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data (see Section 5).
Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent to data collection at any time by discontinuing use of the app and submitting a deletion request.
Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format where technically feasible.
